The basic premise is that 30% of the pose cost in the Temple is given as EXP but this is true only for Male-Female poses in the bed. For all other poses it is set at an arbitrary pose value of 750, in a couple of instances 1000. Thus Climbing the Tree pose (cost 1,000 EXP) in bed is worth more than the similar Shower pose.

As you say if you miss a pose the EXP gained drops back a level. But with the single Blow pose it can drop back to Bulldog which is 200 EXP more so you gain/give more EXP until you get Bulldog when it reverts to pose value. Not sure this is true for the other 4,000 EXP poses, Reverse Titfuck or solo Amoozement.
