There's alot of art programs out there, so I'm just wondering about what everyone uses and their opinions on them?
Every art program is different and some are specialised to do some things, so it's hard to say of one is decisivley the best.
Anyway this is my art program list.
1. Black Ink
http://blackink.bleank.com/
Black Ink is probably the thing I've used for most of my digital art. It focuses on abstract art, so if you're after making figures or specifics, it isnt the best (although it still can do it if it has to). This is the only thing I've spent money on, and it cost me 50 NZD through Steam. If you are willing to spend money I'd recommend it. Some art programs that cost money can get quite steep, so $50 isn't a bad deal I think.
2. GIMP
https://www.gimp.org/
I absoloutley recommend this even if you're not an artist, just having something to edit images in is extremely useful to have. It's open source and a community project, so it's free to download. It's saved my life so many times and everyone should get it, no exceptions. It has most of the functionality of Photshop, but Adobe programs can start at the hundreds of dollars for standard.
3. Design Doll
http://terawell.net/terawell/?lang=en
This I haven't used as much but it makes 3d models that you can use to trace on other programs if you're a figure artist. I found a link to this when I was browsing an *ahem* adult artist. From what I've tested it works well and the figures are good, but I find the figures hard to pose naturally. This is probably just a practice thing. The full package I costs $79 (USD I think) but they offer the main program for free. You'll only miss out on downloading some premade models and exporting to other programs.
4. Krita
https://krita.org/en/
I'll be honest I've never even used this since I downloaded it, I haven't needed it for anything. But it's a good program for digital painting. I've heard something about it being used almost exclusively by porn artists, but have you sen some of their art??It's fricking amazing. This program is free too. The website has a sop you can download things from, but I think it's mostly tutorial videos to get the most out of the program
I use a Wacom Intuos to draw. I bought the lowest end model I could, just because I don't really have the money for something better (My dream is to get a Cintiq someday....). This came with 2 art programs, but I never used them because they really werent great by any measure.
