The Beast and the Rose
#1
Hello everyone,

This short poem was inspired by recent events, both IRL and within the game... and as always, it would seem my inspiration requires an external source, namely lady friends of mine (note the plural). Not very original, I'll admit, but it reflects my mood of the last few days. I hope you'll like it.

Ivan

The Beast and the Rose

Forsaken, forlorn, I was lost in a nightmare
Of endless, darkened halls of crumbling masonry,
Broken glass and shattered mirrors everywhere,
Driven mad like a Beast, wandering aimlessly,

My rage and despair fueled by the agonizing
Scars lining my soul, on my flesh made manifest
For all to witness, hideous beyond screaming,
Condemned to solitude and forever distressed.

And then you were there, beautiful and bright flower
Of blooming radiance, a Rose of exquisite hue
Illuminating my nights with the soft, tender
Glow of your comforting love, so gentle and true…

You dared to look at me, not with unseeing eyes,
but with your heart, peeling away layers of fear,
Doubt and loneliness; at last, bringing forth sunrise
And delight, freeing my soul’s voice for all to hear.

You broke the curse of silence that imprisoned me,
Summoning back long-forgotten dreams of wonder;
Dearest muse, beloved source of creativity,
My spirit yearns to serve thee, now and forever.

"Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth, for behold: all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals."
