Hi! Cath's here! I've been writing this shot for a month when I had time and when I wanted to...

I've been on this for a long time and I don't think it would have come out if I wanted to go through the whole story I had in mind...

Payback time

Manhattan was in shock when a janitor discovered several bodies eviscerated and mostly unidentifiable. The police took it as a priority and put on this case one of their best detective on it. The man in question was a forty-year-old-detective who's served Manhattan for twenty years, but he has never seen such things until now. The victims were taken by surprised and tried to escaped to whatever killed them, John, the detective in charge, was sure it wasn't the work of a sane man or group of men. The face of the corpses were crushed, their body had deep cuts and were even cut out from the body. This gory scene was the work of a devil, a monster.

"Look at those ships! Ain't them beautiful! I'm sure Mother will be pleased!" a man with glasses said.
"I'm sure she will, by the way... Have you signed for the expedition? You know, it's really important for our enterprise" a young woman said, looking the new ships.
The man chuckled and turned to her with a smile.
"Like if I wanted! Nah! I let you handle the problem, I know you can do it. But since it isn't sure that you'll come back, I wanted to give this to you. Special treat from the house, so you don't have to pay back!" He said with a big smile, while giving the woman a small box with an metallic ring in it.
The girl was more than happy to receive such a gift and gladly accepted it, thanking his friend with a hug.
"I'm so glad you gave it to me! Anyway, I should go to Mother to know when I'm going! See ya!" She said, waving at him while running away.

John paid a visit to the security room of the building where the murder took place. The video was odd, the were statics on the screen when the creature came in and started to rampage. The sounds were horrible, filled with cries, guts and blood. The man couldn't stand such horrifying scene and stopped the video and went outside to have some fresh air.
"Nice weather, huh? It's a good night to walk near the water." Said a voice coming from a silhouette sitting on a bench.
"If you consider the fact that there's a crazy monster roaming the streets, I'd say no." John replied vigorously.
"A monster is only the interpretation of humans' fear. Monsters do not exist, or only in humans' heart." Said the silhouette.
"If you say so." John said before shrugging and coming back inside.

"Mother, our ships are ready to sail away. Our family will take the lead and merchandises are under the jurisdiction of our family and my personal oversee. We just need Father's approval." Said the girl from the dock.
Mother acknowledged the information and informed Father about it. The Mother gave what the girl wanted, Dalit prepared her belongings for the long trip. She said her last goodbye to Luka, the man who gave her the ring. Twenty ships for this house left the dock and many more followed their lead, the other houses weren't as stuffed as the ones from the Vinci family, from Dalit Vinci.
Dalit was old enough to go on the expedition, but too young to be in charge of commanding a ship. She was the daughter of the Vinci, one of the eight big families who run the whole world. Her family was the one being in charge of the trades and police of the continent. In fact, Dalit was lucky and didn't hesitated to avail her status as daughter of the Vinci family, but there wasn't the only one who controlled the police, the Valeria family was controlling the one of the second continent.
The Eight Family come from the Pietro Family who still control everything, but it won't last forever thus, their children formed eight different houses which each having to share the control of the territory. The Vinci, controlling the police and trades; the Valeria, the police and the architecture; the Lentile, the food resources and the furniture creations; the Morgian, the power resources and the R&D; the Bene, the Art and computers; the Carolinian, the animals and rights; the Vasquez, the traffic and economy and finally, the Orlando, this family is the least known family of them all because it is in charge of the maintenance and vegetation.
The journey was long and reaching the destination would be quiet, but the Valeria family insisted in escorting the convoy. The show of might given by the fleet of hundred ships would scare the life out of any pirate, but some fools did give it a try. The poor idiots didn't stand a chance and were blown into dust.

"If only I had a clue to what kind of thing that monster is, it would be easier." Said John to himself while trying to watch the end of the video.
Nothing was off, since the whole thing was unbelievable. But another slaughter happened the next day, this time, it was in offices. The scene wasn't different from the first one, except maybe the half sliced man hanging from the ceiling. After further investigation, John found some weird looking print on the wall, it had the shape of claws but it wasn't from an animal, and obviously coming from the monster. Yet, the police was still on the offices that a roar was heard. The noise coming from nowhere frightened the most cowards of the officer who ran away screaming for his mother, then there was another scream and silence. Nobody moved.
The atmosphere was palpable and the only sound was the breath of the policemen, the sunlight started slowly to hide behind the buildings, then behind the horizon, all lights provided were from the flashlights the men had. Something fell off, distracting for a moment the policemen then the second after, another scream, then another one and another one. When somebody put the lights on, few officers laid dead, eviscerated.
A strange silhouette standing up in center of the room was staring at the mortified men, shaking, shivering in fear. The strange humanoid turned to face them men, it wore a white mask, a faceless mask with no eye nor nose, nothing on it. But there was something odd about it, that humanoid monster covered in blood, even if it's face wasn't visible, we could have sensed a menacing glare, crazy eyes and the willing to kill, wanting to kill. But the thing didn't, it simply disappeared, sinking into the floor.

"Damn… I'd kill for speeding up the journey, were already at the fifth day!" Said Dalit, looking at the star with a pout, she then turned to Mansasas, the admiral of the chip, a wise sailor who knows a lot about ships and traveling long journey, this man wasn't even bothered of the presence of the young lady who then said: "Let's speed up a bit, I'm bored."
To that, the admiral pointed the reason why she wasn't in command of a ship, Dalit shrugged and went back to her own cabin, she took her equipments which is a pistol, a multitask watch, a helmet and a pair of good shoes. Being a inspector of the goods was the duty of every trusted person of every family, the members of these included. Dalit loved her job and took it seriously, but when she passed by a big unmarked container, she couldn't help herself, feeling the need of looking at what was inside, yet, there was nothing interesting except the fact that the big container was a waste of space. She asked for a team to move it to an empty hangar.
"Hey, you can't do that! This is something really important!" Yelled a man wearing a white coat.
"How come? This thing is wasting space, we can use it to something more important, like another medical bay." Replied an annoyed Dalit who was overseeing the workers doing their job.
"Why? Because we are going to stock something really important in there, we need that special container." Said the doctor outraged.
"And what will be the important stuff you'll be stuffing this stuff with?"
"That's a lot of 'stuff' ". Said a worker in the background.
The doctor explained in detail what he, and his team were doing. The overall mission of the fleet was to discover new lands, trade with new races and see how the world evolve. But there were other goals, each more secret than the other. The one of the Vinci was to create a new realm for the family.

"How did that happened?! How can a single man kill so many people in a short amount of time?" Said a mad John to an old friend who was a former detective.
"A bomb is the easiest way, but the thing you said to me, it's like if the monster escaped the nightmare of someone to become reality."
The detective sighed. He was tired of this, of the mad world and especially of the monster which the news dubbed the 'deathclaw'. New measures were taken by the government, armed guards were patrolling day and night and cameras were placed everywhere. Some higher ups event thought of hiring mercenaries to track down the beast, most of them were foreigners who were covering their skin and face most of the time, people were pointing them as nomads from deserts. Few days after being hired, a fight broke out between a small groups of these Nomads and soldiers posted in a garrison camp.
"Yo ugly face, step away from us, you'll might steal something from us." Spited a young soldier new to the business.
"We seek intellectual exchange, but it seems there is nothing in your head. Go now, or you might get a headache." Said the Nomad who has been pushed aside by the young one.
"You might be good at hunting rats in your desert, but you're in the big league now."
A small Nomad stepped in, she was wearing a beige hijab or something that looked like it.
"Sir, if you have to complain about the manners of one of my subordinates, feel free to report it to me. Now please, if you'll excuse us, we have some business to attempt." She said, turning her back from the young man.
The soldier grabbed her by the hedjab which pull it off. Without even realizing, he was eating dust, he didn't even saw the roundhouse kick. That action triggered the reaction of the garrison and the Nomads. The MP had to step in and separate the two groups, the sanctions were about to come out when another attack was signaled near their camp. The armed people jumped to vehicles and went to the spot in no time.
John went to the place to see the aftermath, yet, there was another carnage, the slaughter left no survivor. The infamous Nomads were all dead, their cloths soaked in blood and the limbs missing. The soldiers had the same fate. The detective even noticed the face of a young woman, her mouth wide open with an expression of unwanted surprise. The unhealthy curiosity of the man pushed him to kneel next to her to examine her closer. She was looking like one of those oriental girl which could appear in Bollywood's dances.
"What a waste." He Thought for himself. "Such young girl should die like that."
Something odd caught the attention of the man, except the missing lower body. It was the fact that she was wearing a ring, meaning she had already a husband. The horror went on when he discovered a letter addressed to her parents, saying she was okay and excited about the new mission. The humanization of this poor soul was too much and John had to go to a window to take some fresh air and also throw up.
"How could that happen? She could be my daughter… No… That's too awful… the young dreams so suddenly broken… that's horrible… it can't be real…"
He cried, thinking of what kind of life the girl could have had, he then think of his own daughter who was abroad to help some primitive tribes. His wasn't the most gratifying, nor the best, but it was a job that needed to be done. Jonathan chose to do it because he thought that he could do something good for the world.
When he was younger, he was an outsider, a loner, but also a reliable person, always there when needed, that's what sparkled the idea to work for the police. His wife always disliked the work of her husband, thinking this was too dangerous and not worth it. The couple had lots of arguments about it, and John was escaping them by going to work. His couple wasn't at its best, but no one ever said something about getting a divorce.

Dalit was staring at her ring, the euphoria was gone and actually owning one left her cold. It has been her objective since little, owning a ring like that meant a lot, a symbol of adulthood, power, honor and much more. The ring was her life, and now, she had nothing to live for, and becoming the Mother of the family was such a bummer, but she had time and siblings to take her places for she declined the offer.
"I don't want to be static, I want to move, to live and to experience a lot of things! I don't want them to say what I have to do, I'm a grown up, I can think for myself for one!", said a Dalit to an empty wall.
When she went to the bridge, looking at the empty space. Almost a month passed without anything coming out of the usual, the world was mostly empty and the crew of the fleet was slowly getting bored and lethargic. The thing is that the race never did such journey before and the hysteria of the first days was getting replaced with disillusions. Dalit was so bored that she asked for some duplications, duplications were her toys and using them gave her pleasure. As curious by nature, she tried things that were taboo for her race and even for herself. The young woman took pleasure of teasing the crew of her ship using these duplications, faking the fact that she was everywhere at the same time, her puppets where her babies and an extension of her own soul for some reason.
The day when the scanners found new lands, a huge clamor was heard within every ship of the massive fleet, and when they found sign of life, it was even better. But something was odd about it.
"We've been there?", asked a confused Dalit.
"Yes, somehow. There were no records of an anterior expedition, nor a scoot of our actual fleet.", replied the admiral of the ship.
"And under which house is it attributed after? The Morgian? If so, we'll have to ask them a few questions! I hate to be tricked like that!"
   "The Pietro..."
"Say what?! Fine! All ships, stay out of range of these lands! This is the family's territory, but something is odd. To all units, prepare the incursion! We're going to claim it as ours!", Dalit yelled.
"But it's our family's territory!", said the Admiral, shocked.
"Guess what, if it was in no records, and if we were sent here, it's because something wrong happened. Thus, we're going to look at what happened there and fix it. But I'm really bad at politics, so I'm going to invade it."
"You ought to reconsider the fact that it might not be the best solution!"
"Fine! We're going to do the 'accident' and invade the uninhabited zone, create our HQ there and then spread out and search. You're pleased, now?"
The admiral said no more and turned to face the monitor. Dalit drew her pistol and shot him to the head before to the bay to embark for the first carrier to land on a world near the one who was hosting life. Building a base made the race busy and when everything was running perfectly, and event occurred.

The news were already talking about the event which happened many few decades ago, it was something so unreal. Jonathan was watching the tv, he remembered perfectly, it was a rain of meteoroids, some said they found UFOs on the site where the rocks landed, but the army took over and denied everything. His wife was always angry when they talked about that fact, John never understood why. When he met her, she was looking lost and weak, he found her while traveling the desert of Vegas, she was a foreigner and yet, he fell for her and her exotic look. Diana fell in debt of this man and kept loving him for everything he did to her, but he sometimes had to be put back to his place.
"Turn off the TV that's just stupid.", she said while cooking in the kitchen.
"Why? We met two weeks after that event!"
"It reminds me of bad things, I don't want to discuss about... Well.. That truth is that I..."

To be continued... Or not?
I would like to read more ;-))

At least that's something! But I'm not as big as Sylviekat
Sylviekat had roleplayed her universe before and a longer time to develop ;-))
it would be nice to read how your story develops ;-))
I say continue, it has quite the turn of events and it reminded me of some movies, series and few games that had similar events and characters, it's like a combination of all that, especially the so far uknown monster that to my imagination it looks like combination from a movie and a game.
