An interesting and thoughtful view on the economy and one I largely agree with. I have played since February 2016 so have seen both sides of the change which I assume to mean the end of alt farming.
I never really considered that mnf did not have an economy before but it largely didn't. Money was pretty worthless as it was easy to come by and was a toy to buy multiple outfits.
I have enough money but am much more careful with it now, not buying all Avs a new outfit although I could. I was just about to update outfits when this happened so I didn't. Not really the actual amount of money involved but a change in perception; money became something precious to be saved. It's not much diminished my enjoyment of game but I can see hour in rodeo for outfit would.
Along with the apartment designers and code sellers have come the scammers: those that sell false codes and sell other peoples' designs. Escorts are not necessarily a bad thing but I don't think they existed before. They allow low levels to go with high levels, to see prem positions, when before they would have been ignored. But it is buying XP and people (nearly all girls) are being exploited. OK to hand over 50% to someone if they provide the clients but they don't. As you said, alt farming was open to all, only some can design apartments.
Your friend is right; it does seem a money grab. Poses before were xp only not $. Prices have increased for outfits. Farm Girl (cowgirl) was $700, now Denim Jumpsuit from same catalogue is $1000, $1500 with boots.
Sorry, but I don't think that what you suggest makes that much difference to new players. Motel room or even swimsuit cost does not take that long to earn. No harm in letting non-prems use bank transfers but probably few would want to do so: it's about keeping prem worth having.
When reverse cowgirl was made available, boob job became non-prem: nothing similar happened with split. And only swimsuit has been made non-prem. Maybe it would be better if non-prems gained outfits and clothes access as level increased.
The basic problem is that it is just too hard to earn money in game. $2,500 an hour in any mini-game worth $2.50 in real money on bank rate. For most it is better to earn real $ , even at minimum wage, and so mnf get real $.
