MnF's wavering tone
#1
The newest area to be added to MnF club was Southern MnF. On the updates page it says how a jail will be added soon.

Wait, what? A jail?

MnF games have never really had a consistent tone, we already knew that. I'm not being critical of what the developers want to add in to their game, but a prison isn't the first thing I would have picked.

Honestly, I felt a bit weird when a shooting range was added, just because it didn't seem to match the tone of a free adult MMO to me (someone who's had pretty much nothing to do with guns in her life outside gaming). I like the minigame, but still the fact that MnF club decided to put guns in their game seemed strange to me. Not bad, but strange.

This is why I feel strange about getting a prison in game. Unlike a shooting range minigame, I'm not sure what purpose a jail can serve in the game. It seems safe to assume that there'll be some new sex scenes or another way to see some tits there, but in an adult MMO you could justify that anywhere. So why not a cafe, or a lake, or a racing track to create a new minigame?

What I'm trying to say is MnF Club lacks a consistent tone, using things with negative associations or symbolic signifiers for  something that has a positive association in my head (sex, just to clarify). When I think of "Free online Sex MMO", I don't expect it to have a prison. I either expect a totally ridiculous sex crazed world (i.e Bowntown), or a more casual realistic world that's just more liberal to sex (i.e 3DX Chat). Honestly I prefer the latter, the absurdity of the first makes it alot less sexy in my mind. MnF seems to sinewave between the two, which makes it hard to take seriously. Not that MnF games are made to be taken seriously at all, but you get the idea.

Anyway that's just my thoughts on adding a prison to Southern MnF. Maybe this is just a me thing, but if you have any thoughts it'd be worthwhile to discuss.

Well im definitely not disagreeing with u that it lacks a underlying idea, but the way they do it is just throwing a little something to everyone, from elf ears for fantasy rpers, to the shooting game for ammosexuals, to the costumes for the furries etc.
Imo, the main problems with that is it can become hard to find same-minded pple, and groups can clash sometimes since those diferent things are simply not compatible.
The fix that i had thought of, was to try get servers dedicated to different things, or at least zones, by putting some guidelines in the game (nothing mandatory, but just an information to players), but it doesnt seem to be their way going forward.

I disagree a bit about the jail: i see it more as a game organisation issue than as a rp offer. Assuming it is indeed a detention center for banned pple (which is what brandon hinted it d be, if u missed it), it will let the good pple keep pming their friends when on a 24 hours ban, and take the bad out of everyones sight. Which hopefully will lead to increased game experience for all.
The fact that players ran away with it and bought many orange jumpsuits (at least i saw quite a few), shows there actually was a demand for that fantasy tough, but it doesnt seem devs even had to spend time and ressources on it, so id call it a success.

Now im in favor of pretty much anything developers will add (zones, costumes, poses), but when i talk of what they should add, its really a matter of priority, and on that i do think the jail is a good call, because what i see as priority is improving game experience for all (i see too many pple way too stressed in here) rather than giving everyone a scenery offer, which as good as it can be, was always available through rp anyway and is surely gonna feel overdone in 3 days.

Good post, and reply. I only think the inconsistency starts to become bad is when they leave an area unfinished to move onto something else. The second floor of the saloon, and the casino aren't completed, and now we added a new zone where we have more incomplete areas: bank, apartments, jail.

I completely agree with your assessment Sasso of how inconsistent MNF Club is with it's area's and mini-games. However the Jail has been typed about in the "Recent Changes/Updates and Thoughts" as only a place where people go when they are banned and not a place for sex of any kind. Supposedly a lot of people have been getting banned a lot for some reason.

Back to your reasoning's Sasso, i agree that anything that supports sex and like minded people coming together to please each other sexually is far more preferable over things like the shooting gallery where you are separated from other people. Which is why i usually don't use places that prevent interaction. I tend to like the Casual Realism too, seduction and typing about sexual interest before any sex, always leads to better sexual relationships and sexual experiences anything that prevents that kind of interaction i have no interest in.

The jail is just another example of separation that MNF Club has a lot of. Although if a person is banned they probably did something rude and it is justified to put them in the Jail. Maybe it might help prevent more bans to further embarrass those people by putting them in the Jail so that those people can realize you can get the sex you want as long as you treat other people the way they want to be treated.
Sex is the beginning of living, Awesome Sex is life itself.

Equality in sex is the only way to reach the best orgasms for both people.

Awesome sex is not about positions or quantity. It's about quality and pleasing your partner and yourself.

I do agree with John when it comes to finishing some areas. The cabaret isn't done, would be interesting to see if there could be either NPC's or even an option to dance? strip? more than one person at a time? Side note : bring on the male strippers!

As for the tone, MNF never seemed to have one if you ask me. The Devs do their thing pretty much "wherever it may take us" - I've always felt it was like that. They do handle occurring issues in time, so that's good, considering this isn't their "day job", overall still a good work. Pretty sure they're never 100% satisfied with how it is,we aren't as well and that's normal. Always gotta want more.

But as with everything else, gonna take it one day at a time and if something new comes up - yay! - if not, -le shrug- and moving on making our own fun. I'm on MNF now solely because of the people I know here, they're the ones that make it fun (for me). Not zones or outfits or minigames or new poses, but that's just me, I'm not preaching nor am I taking anything from people who like those, all or one or the other.

Zones or not, we're MakiN' it Fun!

I didn't know about the jail having a way for banned players to keep playing, can someone link a source to me? Even so I'm not completely sure why spending the time and effort to make a new area at all was necessary when a black screen would probably have sufficed. As Johnsins said there are still areas that need more work or are devoid of content. Allowing players to still message other players while banned might not even work out in MnF's best interests and have to be removed, which would make the jail into dead content, which alot of work is clearly being put into. A black screen trial would work just as well, and maybe we'd have more games in the casino than just slots.

Also, back to tone, I'd agree with _Barbie_ that the devs never had a sense of tone, but that doesn't mean to me that MnF *shouldn't* have one. The poor localisation of the game makes it hard to take seriously in the first place, but it's never too late to start.

Without getting into too much detail, I agree with the concern about the jail for several reasons which would be too lengthy to discuss. But logistically speak spending time investing in banned people is taking away time from good players that deserve improvements. Banned players should be handled by a customer team outside of the game. Also barbies post about encouraging bad behaviour to get into the jail is another risk. This jail appears to be a side track from the intention of the game which is sexual fantasy. Devs should invest their time providing updates relating to sexual fantasy. They should handle banned players outside the game as a customer service issue. There are so many unfinished aspects of the game that deserve more attention than this concept of a jail....puting time into this jail appears scatter-brained and doesn't show well for the Devs.

I'm usually not really good at writing lenghty posts. Most likely, because I tend to get lost in too many details. Which is boring. So, to cut to the chase, and talk about this new area that has been released.

The most important thing we noticed there, is gonna be the Apartament building. Which is, great news. After so long since it has been rumored, to finally make it inside the game. Even if, in the current state, which is, not opened. At least, we can see that it will happen. But, we would need more information, regarding the way they will work. Brandon said something about being implemented with some sort of rent system. And if this is gonna be the way you'd be able to use this apartaments, there should be at least some hints about the daily/weekly/monthly amount you'd have to pay for it. And of course, the most important aspect that I suppose is a curiosity for all, are they gonna be available for all users, or just the premium ones? Anyways, until then, we'll have to wait.

The next point I'd like to cover is The jail. Understood it's gonna be related to those which are banned. And, that means, we will be able to see which people are banned and such, or it's gonna be a place where the banned people will be able to log into the game. Which, from my point of view, would be an useless feature, since, if they got banned, it was for a serious reason. And, that means, their access it's forbidden to the game. So again, if that would be the case, Jail would prove useless.

Instead, they could have chosen a Town Hall, with a Notice board outside, which would have been used like some sort of in-game news system, stating which people are banned and such. Also, this Town Hall could have been used to some extent, to provide guidance for those which are new into the game. With different informations regarding the in-game activities that are there, ways of earning money, locations, etc. Also, it could have a place which would be linked straight to the Forums and Twitter. Like a doorman, which would have a dialogue option, to send the user either to the Forums, either to Twitter. But, I've talked enough about this idea. And also, it could also have like some sort of development log, so we would know what the devs are working on at a given time.

And now, regarding the unfinished areas of the game. We all know about the Cabaret. It's been empty pretty much since the beginning of the game. I don't know exactly why, or if the devs have something big planned for it, but, they should take every area, and bring a finishing touch about it. The same with the Casino in the Oasis. We've waited a bit for it, it finally was opened, indeed, only with Slots Machines, but at least, it was a new activity. And a rewarding one, in the first day. Since then, you lose more than what you earn. So, it pretty much died. Hopefully the Blackjack/Poker tables will be implemented, and finally provide us with a steady source of income, especially for males. Yes, the first 2 days, it was pretty good, and seemed like a response to the female pole dancing. But at this moment the Slot Machines, are quite a risk, as you can lose all that you have. So, the males don't have a big source of income anymore. And I won't talk about the other ways. Talking strictly to what can you earn money through, in-game.

Anyways, I just covered a small part of what there is and will be available in game, now, and in the near future. It's just my opinion. I'm not having something against the developers. Since I know that this is a side activity for them, so I won't expect the impossible. What they've done until now, is amazing. It provides us with means of relaxation, and a place in which we could escape the real world for a while. Smile

And also, something that a friend asked me to mention, the possibility to sell the Petnis for half the price, or just the possibility to get rid of it for good.

This has been what I had to say about this. If you'd take the time to read it, I'd appreciate it. If not, I won't mind. Anyways, thank you for your time.
With all due respect,

With all due respect,

Overfiend: I agree with Vrook 100% and with all due respect to the Devs.  The Town Hall is a great idea.  More meaningful methods for males to make money in the game & unfinished area are critical issues.  Lastly i respect that the Devs are doing so much in their free time.  If i were in their shoes i'd want to make the most of my limited time.  So we're just trying to give some feedback so that they can do that. We want the Devs to get the maximum benefit for their limited time and in return we'll all share a great game
