Moderators, and what you (always) wanted to know about them
#21
I play the game a lot and find really disagreeable behaviour is very, very rare.

Sometimes a player, normally level 1 and presumably new, will PM a whole paragraph of what he would like to do. I often find this unpleasant but think that this is more of a misguided attempt at an introduction rather than being nasty. Just not replying or ignoring ends it.

A player could switch location/server but why should she (invariably); she is the victim.

What does concern me is the suggestion that replying “F*ck Off” might get you a warning or banned. One has to assume that abuser has reported unless PMs are being monitored. Mods response should be to “grow up”. Maybe Emmie could comment.

One area that does seem to cause concern is shower jumpers. But why enter if you do not have a partner?

Cute.

Mr Pornstar comes here, admonishes me for "misusing" a word, but makes absolutely no mention to the dozens of guys who put "rape" in their nicknames, who use the word to describe their intentions in the game, and who actually threaten women with it.

Don't you think you should have something to tell THEM instead?

And since we are on that topic of consent, I did NOT consent to be offended online, I did NOT consent to be stalked or verbally abused. But hey, what the hell, right? I just need to log off if i feel uncomfortable. So, if a guy (or several), start yelling about how they would violate me, I am the one who should move away, correct? That is so simple, so perfect... why don't we, then, allow ALL kinds of abuse? Since we all agreed to be online, we all agreed to read the messages, let's not judge. Let's let pedophiles treat you as children and have their way with you. Let's let gore lovers rip people apart in the public chat.

Why judging? Let's be "impartial", and let everybody do whatever they want to everybody else.

Because what is disgusting is me using a word. After all, a rape victim would be offended with me telling it's wrong to do it online, but according to mr The Sims, wouldn't be offended with people carrying it around like cardnames and fun games to play with anyone.

Go to hell.

What I have been telling is to have a position from the moderation. Imma not leading a crusade against users. If YOU, JohnSins, wants to have all your holes penetrated without invitation by a stranger, go for it. Have your fun. State it on your bio. I DO NOT. And i want to know if I have any degree of support from those who claim to try to make this game an experience better for the community, or if rape, sexual assault and whatever criminal behaviour you consider simply a "tabboo rp" are being endorsed AGAINST A PLAYER'S WILL.

Do you want to be a six year old child fucked in the ass by a pineapple? Have your fun, and be a psycho. I DO NOT, and I have the right of not wanting, and NOBODY has the right to force it on me. When someone does, they are going against the rules of the game itself. Remember? That part in the Terms of Service. Here:

(Specifically you agree:

1. When using the Service, you will not harm other members. You will not harass, bully, intimidate, threaten, or stalk any member, or make rude. You are prohibited from using the Service for an unlawful purpose or to take an action for the primary purpose of reducing the enjoyment of the Service by another user.)

Just to clarify: I am proposing the moderators DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY WOULD DO. Initiating a violent rp, specially one that is in a topic that is really sensitive for any woman in a country when women die because of it every single day, IS harrassment. I don't care about what anyone does in their pms. But it is not acceptable when that is forced on others.

But hey, if you don't think rape/sex violence against a non consensual victim is bias... that says much more about you than it does about me. Enjoy your tabboo play in your room, in your pm, and leave people who like healthier interactions alone.

Dear Ethereal,
i think, youre a real Lady, and you should be treated as one! Wink
Please cool down, let us see the facts:
This is a Sexgame, and we are all grown ups (At least I hope so!)
We are a million of members, and of course there a some idiots in between...
Some guys are new, some try to make a joke (and spoil it), some are not able to speak perfect english (so do I Sad ...)
But he is only able to attack you with words.
And you can beat him with his own weappons:
Whe he said" I rub my penis against your butt!"
than answer "Oh fine, I have a knife and cut it off!", and than ignore... Wink
If he is still stalking you, the moderators will act...

PS. Please keep your posts a little bit shorter (as I said it before to other friends).
Its difficult for me to read and to understand! Wink

My only issue with calling this rape requires some explanation I think. First of all, let's look at the definition of rape. It is when someone is forcefully penetrated, without consent, (oral, anal, vaginal) by a penis or other object, with physical violence, coercion or abuse of authority. Of course, this can vary slightly depending on culture, but it does cover the definition of rape fairly well. By this definition, raping someone online is impossible, because it requires physical penetration.

What I do believe can happen online, is sexual harassment. Any form of physical sexual harassment is already out, because it can't be implemented online. But then we have, for example, coercion. If someone is coercing you into virtual sex or submission in any form, via blackmail (have compromising pictures of you, knows where you live, has other personal information etc) or other forms of threats that can be proven, it is definitely something we would take action against. We also have abuse of authority, which I only really see as something a moderator could potentially cause in this case, or possibly larger groups with peer pressure, where you could potentially fear for your place in this community unless you comply. These are just the two examples I could think of, but basically, any situation where someone is trying to take away your freedom of choice and force you into anything (not just sexual activities tbh) is not ok.

I see a lot of mentions of "rape play" or "rape roleplay" and connections made to actual rape. But technically and practically, "rape play" has nothing to do with actual rape, it shouldn't even be called "rape play" because it involves consenting adults who act out a scenario where one part leaves all control to the other. I think a large issue is that people call it rape play, and make connections to rape, when the two are vastly different. There are about as many kinks as there are people, but in this case, there are things like humiliation, domination, submission, mild violence and such, that some people enjoy in controlled situations.

Now, as I said before, I can't speak for all the cases, cause it really does depend case by case. What was said? What was done? Did it stop? How did it start? How did it end? All these things matter, and there is no "one frame for all" solution.

In my prior post, I was talking about the comment "The guy literally said that he was RUBBING HIS COCK on her.". If she puts him on ignore, and he moves on, the problem was solved. If she put him on ignore and he decides to harass her over it, there's definitely a serious issue and a moderator needs to get involved. This is not a personal stance on people initiating with sexual roleplay. I am not a fan, but if they accept a no, and move on, leaving you alone. I don't see why a moderator has to get involved.

If someone abuses, harasses, stalks or even insults, I can understand wanting them to be told off. But not everyone who approaches with sexual roleplay is out to "harm" your experience in the game. They just wanna have fun, and if they're told no, they will understand and move on. We are all adults here, that's my assumption until proven otherwise, and we should be able to resolve things like this with communication (or ignore button, it's what it was made for).

This thread has been locked for now due to the rise in hostility and aggression. If you have any comments or issues with what I've said, feel free to politely direct them to my PM, and I will respond as soon as I can.

I have said before that just not replying or ignoring is best thing to do.  But some odd people here.  End of conversation with a level 7 premium;  why did he get so upset?

If it's ingame, report them. And add screenshots to the report, if you took any. Or anything that would prove that they did threatened you.

I think that this seems right place at the moment.  But as Vrook says you need some proof.

In over two years’ of playing I have met what I consider unpleasant posting but never outright hostility.

I wish to remind people that when you report someone, the chat logs will show. If something doesn't show in the logs, the report will be declined, even if you have screenshots. This because screenshots can be faked. They only work as supporting evidence, not main evidence. Thank you for your understanding.
